Hunger is not just a third world problem. Even in Skegness and the surrounding area, there are many people living on the edge of poverty and The Skegness Food Bank aims to help individuals and families who have experienced a crisis of some type.
All it takes is a sudden, unexpected event – a bereavement, illness, redundancy or theft – to throw people into a genuine crisis.
Parts of Skegness and the surrounding area are statistically some of the most deprived areas in England.
The Food Bank provides local families and individuals with essential food supplies at a time when they need them most, covering the time when other parts of the social care infrastructure can come into play.
“You'll be like a well-watered garden,
a gurgling spring that never runs dry.
You'll use the old rubble of past lives to build anew,
rebuild the foundations from out of your past.
You'll be known as those who can fix anything,
restore old ruins, rebuild and renovate,
make the community livable again.”
Jesus has made such a difference in our lives that we want to share the love that we have discovered with everyone that we come into contact with.
re:Storehouse is the community outreach part of The Storehouse, and is committed to rebuilding and restoring our communities where-ever we can.
We believe that by building relationships with organisations and individuals and by engaging with our community , we begin to see needs met and lives transformed. the words of Isaiah 58 fulfilled.
